The Seaside Institute presents Let's Talk, our monthly community discussion. This month, the topic is Mobility. Join us for "Robot Cars, Transportation, and the Future of Florida" presented by Tim Chapin, professor of urban and regional planning and interim dean of the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy at Florida State University.
Dr. Chapin will discuss how robot cars (self-driving, automated vehicles) is transforming the way we travel, where we live and work, and how our communities function.
Chapin is one of the principal investigators on a research grant from the Florida Department of Transportation to study how robot cars could enhance mobility for aging populations and the transportation disadvantaged. His brief, plain-language presentation will focus on the impacts of this technology. After the talk, people have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in dialogue on the topic.
The Seaside Institute - working in collaboration with local residents, homeowners, visitors, employers and employees, international experts, community representatives, Dewberry | Preble-Rish, HNTB, ITIC, Walton County, the State of Florida and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity - is implementing the #30AMobility project. Featuring connected, self-driving, and emission-free vehicles, #30AMobility will increase convenience while reducing congestion and emissions; improving the lives of the people in our extended community.
Come and see the latest updates for #30AMobility, and let your voice be heard.
